hi folks!
just letting u all know, ID has just finished putting together the new Inside the Box sketchbook vol. 3 for this convention season. we've just uploaded the cover so u know what to look for at the conventions! it should be just in time for our first convention of the year which is Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC on June 19-21. if ur going to be there, scoop urself a copy! it's full color through and through. 96 pages of art-liciousness from all 4 of the ID studio artists. plus u get a free sketch in the book when u buy one at a convention! free is always great!

we hope to see some familiar faces there! and we always like seeing new ones as well. if ur itchin to get ur hands on a sketchbook but know u won't make it to any cons this year, NOTE us and let us know. we'll work it out.

April has been a storm of activity so far! All of us ID Comics kids have been clobbered with project after project. It's a great time for us. Traditionally Spring is a big time of year for us, but this year it seems to have snuck up on us with ninja skillz! At any rate, all that means that it has been a lot harder to maintain the JELLIES and I would like to apologize for not being able to keep up. Because it has been so difficult to give the JELLIES the attention they deserve we have to put them on hold for a while. We would like to start the whole thing up again in June (maybe sooner if things slow down a bit).

Now, on to the Spectacular Spider-Jellies!

I decided to give everyone an extra day to submit, then I ended up having trouble with my internet service and was unable to post last night. So thank you all for being patient. This week's challenge: The Spectacular Spider-man! or any of his closest friends or foes!. I know u guys will have fun with this one. As always we want you to have fun and be creative! Plus this time you get an extra week to create your master piece. All entries must be in by April 13th! if you need a reminder of the rules check them out below.


Art Jellies! "what's an art jelly?" u may ask. Well, we're just not callin it an art jam cuz jam don't shake like dat! We invite u all to join our ART JELLIES!! this is how it works - we post a topic/theme in our journal on Mondays. u've got until Sunday to draw something - this includes the ID members as well. then, post it in ur own gallery and note us or reply to our journal with a link to it. we'll post all art submitted by then on monday on our journal along with the next week's new topic.
we've started to do this to keep ourselves drawing for fun. i'm sure that most of u know how it feels to be so busy with drawing for work or commissions or comic pages that u forget why u started to draw in the first place - because it's fun!!! so instead of just keeping these fun times to ourselves, we're inviting anyone that's interested to join in! the more the merrier.
it doesn't have to be a completely finished piece - unless u want to! whatever u do, just post it and send us a note with the link in ur gallery. this is all for fun so there won't be prizes or anything. (at least, not at this time.)

We also had a super-late entry for last weeks JELLY. I thought it was a great idea and a really cool piece so I figured I would add to this weeks journal so everyone could see it.

We have a real challenge for you guys this week. This week's JELLY is "The Brawl for it All". Chun Lee, a Ninja Turtle, The Karate Kid (Daniel San),and Chuck Norris walk into a bar. Someone makes a crude remark about someone's mother and the fists start flying. Only one fighter walks out. Who is that fighter?! Now you gotta draw the winner standing over his or her foes triumphantly. Then when u post the art let us know why your guy or gal wins. You can even add extra fighters if you want (like Agent Gibbs from NCIS. hint hint ) . As always we want you to have fun and be creative! if you need a reminder of the rules check them out below.
